Introduction
Coin is a tool I built to help me manage my personal finances.
It allows users to track their income and spending by categorizing spending into two categories
Fixed - the monthly amount is the same every month or known ahead of time (rent, car payment, etc.)
Flexible - where the monthly amount varies each month (groceries, gas, etc.)
Why build Coin
I’ve used zero based budgeting in in the past, but felt like it made me miss the forest through the trees.
The question I care most about when managing my money is that I don’t spend more than I make, not whether the popcorn I bought at the movie theater is “Entertainment” or “Eating Out”
